AKA’s Managing Director and BABICM Chair, Angela Kerr has been featured in the latest edition NR Times Her contribution is part of their article discussing that Neuro-rehab bed numbers must triple in the UK to meet demand but a recruitment crisis could hold back progress.
Angela highlights that part of the issue is the lack of young people wanting to come into the profession, the challenges of recruiting carers in less-populated areas and the effect Brexit is having on the situation.
The article also discusses solutions including the use of graduates in helping to stem the recruitment crisis, as well as considering other more innovative ways of ensuring brain injury patients are supported – such as automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) as well as assistance dogs.
